Long Is The Road
04:38
|
|||
Long is the road that leads me to you
Long is the road that takes me home
Long is the road that leads me to you
Long is the road that takes me home
And I've been hanging on the line
And I've been waiting for this sign
And I've been wishing all of this time
But you've been playing games
As long as you're taking something
To get yourself unwound
And you don't know where you're going
And things are all turned round
As long as you're faking something
To keep them on the line
And you say that you'll do better
Maybe this time, or the next time
Clear are the streams that feed my soul
Red are the knives that bleed me
Wide is the river that flows to the sea
Deep is the thought that finds me
And I've been hanging on the line
And I've been waiting for this sign
And I've been wishing all of this time
But you've been playing games
As long as you're taking something
To get yourself unwound
And you don't know where you're going
And things are all turned round
Old are the tales that find me here
But fresh are the winds that guide me
Bright is the sun that shines upon you
Dark are the vines that bind me
And I've been hanging on the line
And I've been waiting for this sign
And I've been wishing all of this time
But you've been playing games
As long as you're taking something
To get yourself unwound
And you don't know where you're going
And things are all turned round
As long as you're faking something
To keep them on the line
And you say that you'll do better
Maybe this time, or the next time
Long is the road that leads me to you
Long is the road that takes me home
Long is the road that leads me to you
Long is the road that takes me home

Lately
03:37
|
|||
Lately I go out with a net to catch dragonflies for my hair
Lately I go out and take sandwiches for emergencies
Lately I sweep elegantly down the streets on my bicycle
If I were to slip and cast pansies and cornflowers at your door...
I help the river flow
I'll take these seeds and sow the meadow
And when the West wind blows
I'll see the breezes caress you
Lead me onwards but don't tell me where
Sing a song of springtime and we'll take the air
Pay me visits but don't tell me when
If you come tomorrow, then we'll play again
Sometimes I pin drawings of ladybirds to my scarf
Sometimes girls come round to my house and place lavender in my hearth
Perhaps I'll take a walk into town and send packages to America
Whilst little boxes of memories stay tucked away on my shelf
I help the river flow
I'll take these seeds and sow the meadow
And when the West wind blows
I'll see the breezes caress you
Lead me onwards but don't tell me where
Sing a song of springtime and we'll take the air
Pay me visits but don't tell me when
If you come tomorrow, then we'll play again
Come tomorrow and we'll play again
Come tomorrow and we'll play again

These Things
04:31
|
|||
I prayed for diamond rings
And diamond rings is what I got
I asked for secret things
And secret things is what I got
I basked in days of pleasure
And things you cannot measure
But I never made my peace
With you
With you
With you
With you
I mocked your golden wings
But golden wings can help you soar
If I make it through the door
Then through this door I'll some no more
I drowned in days of sun
And though the nights were fun
I never made my peace
With you
With you
With you
With you
I prayed for all these things
But all these things I held too dear
I fear these ancient things
'Cause ancient things will hold me here
I basked in days of pleasure
And things you cannot measure
But I never made my peace
With you
With you
With you
With you
I saw your face so pale
A face so pale should know no fear
Now I pray for smaller things
'Cause smaller things will keep you near
When lightning falls through heaven
Each hope from life is driven
'Cause I never made my peace with you
With you
With you
With you

Summer's End
03:20
|
|||
When you feel the summer's end
Cool against your skin
And you feel the winter's chill
Stirring Within
When you feel the silent rays
Fall across your face
And you see the golden leaves
Falling from grace
Where the tattooed armies march
Fingers like ice
Glistening hollows draw you in
To feel their steely vice
And the faithful evergreen
Keeps its nightly watch
As the beetle bides its time
In branch and fold and notch
As tiny mice slumber
The owl looking on
Caught in their rhythm
The colours move on
When the buds begin to burst
Scattering their light
And the flowers sunwards turn
To grow with all their might
Take a walk across the land
Through early morning dew
And as tiny leaves unfurl
Know they're a part of you

Yellow And Green
03:20
|
|||
You wove a landscape of yellow and green
An island, a forest, a wondrous scene
Then everything changed in the blink of an eye
And we all looked for answers and wondered why
If I have love for your root and your flower
Then the fear and the hatred won't have any power
Hurricane, shuriken, throw them at me
If I am still, they will fall silently
Tossing and turning our way through the sea
Searching this earth for the right way to be
Aching and shaking, we went on our knees
For the gods of ourselves were so hard to appease
If I have love for your root and your flower
Then the fear and the hatred won't have any power
Hurricane, shuriken, throw them at me
If I am still, they will fall silently
He led us onwards and laughed with such ease
As we travelled the oceans and sailed on the breeze
Each time we listened and each time we heard
A feeling of love for each other was stirred
If I have love for your root and your flower
Then the fear and the hatred won't have any power
Hurricane, shuriken, throw them at me
If I am still, they will fall silently
But then in a moment, at night, he was gone
But the love and connection and memories live on
The harder the lesson, the deeper the layers
But for those who can listen, the band is the players
Somebody told me in yellow and green
As we walked past the tube and the kids on the scene
An echo of something I thought I had heard
Should I have listened or was it a dream?
